Porsche 917 longtail Le Mans 1970

The basement:
My first resine kit was a Proto Porsche 917 longtail from France. I wanted the Psychadelic version but it was already sold out so I took the other version from the team Austria and bought a decalsheet from Patto. The original took place in the 24hrs of Le Mans 1970 and finished second behind the shorttail Porsche 917 from Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood.

The conversion:
For the conversion you also need a shorttail Porsche 917 from Fly. The Proto kit includes the body with some parts, decals, an interior and so on. But I replaced the lexan interior from Proto and put it the Fly cockpit.

Here you can see the body with its parts. You can order the kit painted or unpainted but I would take the painted kits. They look better in general.

On the top the Proto Porsche 917 longtail and below the Fly Porsche 917 shorttail. here you can see the lenght difference between those two models. But you can use the Fly chassis for the longtail when you adapt it a little bit.

As I already said, I bought a decalsheet from Patto. At first you have to put on the white decals and after that the colored ones.

But I didn't like the Patto decals and so I was very lucky to get a body with the original Proto decals later. Those were definitely better and fit perfect on the body.
