Porsche 908/3 1000km Nürburgring 1971 Nr.2

The basement:
My first conversion was the Gulf Porsche from Siffert/Bell which ran at the 1000kms of Nürburgring 1971 with the number #2. I had only very few pictures of this car because it had to give up the race in the seventh round. So I had to search the internet, in books and in old magazines; but I had only pcs of the front. I needed a side and rear view and finally I found one in the book "ADAC 1000km Rennen am Nürburgring“.

The conversion:
After I had everything I needed, the conversion began. I had to carve the complete Fly model. But you have to be carefull because the steering wheel can break simply because the hands of the driver are around it. So I would remove the dirver at first.

Then followed the sanding of the original piant because I couldn't get the badges off in an other way.

Of course I had to paint the helmet of Jo Siffert in red with the white stripes and the cross.

And I also painted the Gulf overall which Jo Siffert had on while he was racing.

I made the decals by my own and bought some from Patto's Place in Australia. I mixed the Gulf color and painted the 908/3 by airbrush.

I replaced the description of the Fly package and made a new one. After that, my first conversion was finished.
